Mini Biography
He had a normal childhood, like most other children. He graduated from HR College, with a B.Com degree. At his father's insistence, he has been very focused on his career since he was in the 12th standard. He did a 4-month workshop with Kishore Namit Kapoor and also at Anupam Kher's institute, during vacations. He also assisted Aditya Chopra in his movie 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge', when he was in college. He did receive offers as a lead actor earlier, but as he did not want to debut with a love story, he chose to wait. Then Sriram offered him a movie - he was impressed with the script, which demanded an ensemble cast.
He has always wanted to be an actor. It has been his childhood dream. He has also worked in Yash Raj's movie 'Vijay' and Vimal Kumar's 'Jaise Karni Wiasi Bharni' as a child artiste when he was around 4 years old. When he played the role of Govinda as a child in 'Jaise Karni Waise Bharni', he was appreciated more than Govinda and that left an impression on his mind. If he had become a singer, people would have expected a lot more from him because of his father and grandfather.
Trivia
Grandson of legendary singer Mukesh and son of singer Nitin Mukesh.

QUICK GUN MURUGAN (2009) HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:
Story and Analysis:
It seems to tollywood comedy hero magic was not worked in bollywood. We thought it would be a fun film. Stupid stupid thought! The tale of the original Indian cowboy, inspired by the quintessential ‘Bawliwud Ishtylish’ hero, Quick Gun Murugan is light years away from being anything funny.
Actually Quick Gun Murugan is like a plate of grossly overcooked pasta. It is not the usual fare and could have been tasty if cooked right. But instead ends up being a bowl of unpalatable sludge. And we can only blame the filmmakers for that. A spoof is a spoof – no logic, no storyline just a short while of mindless fun. Try turning that into a film, stretch it for 90 tedious minutes and this is what you’ll end up with – sludge!
The story begins with QG Murugan dying. It is right about then that you’ll realise how the makers are trying too hard to be extraordinarily ‘cool’ – something which in the nineties would have been referred to as extremely ‘Yo!’. Chitragupta for example is a Gujarati man named C Gupta. And ‘yamlok’ is called the Ministry of Death. Things that would have been funny… in Class II.
Come interval, and you’ll still be waiting to laugh. Really laugh. Some names here and some actions there might be funny. For example, a song sequence with Murugan (Dr Rajendrakumar) and his Locket Lover (Anu Menon aka Lola Kutty) dancing around trees is cute. It incorporates all the 60’s Bollywood clichés right from flowers touching each other to depict an intimate (read kissing) scene to the quintessential park bench romance. However, most of the first half is too violent (for no apparent reason) to be fun.
Second half brings in the other character you might be waiting for – Mango Dolly. Rambha as the blonde-haired, bar dancer cum gangster’s keep cum Miss India aspirant cum a lot of other things is good. But it’s tough for even her to help sustain a film that stretches beyond measure. Her romance with Quick Gun is the only highlight of this half of the film. The extremely corny scenes and dialogues between them is good fun.
To give it to the actors, they have really lived up to their exaggerated characters. Dr Rajendraprasad is brilliant as Quick Gun Murugan. He doesn’t laugh. He can’t look at semi clad women. He winces when he sees Mango Dolly dance. Good! Raju Sundaram’s portrayal of Rowdy MBA is also worth a mention. The two women Anu Menon (aka Lola Kutty of Channel V) as Locket Lover and Rambha as Mango Dolly live up to their characters as well.
With rich, vibrant colours and well executed special effects, the film has a very comic strip effect. The background score only adds to the effects. Every character has their unique musical track which plays when they enter or exit a scene. The same goes for similar situations. The songs however are nothing worth mentioning. And we could have lived without them.
Quick Gun Murugan thus, is a great character. He could have been the Indian Don Quixote. It’s a pity, he ends up being an immense bore.
Final View:
What you’ve already seen of Quick Gun in trailers, is all that’s worth seeing. Don’t even bother watching the film. It will only spoil the character already created by Shah Rukh Khan in Om Santhi Omyears back. Quick Gun Murgun Fire was miss hitted. This film was bore and its a flop movie.
DADDY COOL MOVIE REVIEW

Jim (Vrajesh Hirjee) thinks that even a funeral is an opportunity to impress Maria. And then enters Rajpal Yadav who played an Andrew role, he has scandalous secret about the deceased Douglas “Daddy Cool” Lazarus (Sharat Saxena).
Priyanka Chopra not allowed to wear jeans
Mumbai, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who made a style statement with her hot pants and halter tops in “Dostana”, wasn’t allowed to wear a pair of jeans at home.
The 27-year-old actress, who was brought up in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, faced these restrictions at home after returning from the US, where she had gone to do her high school.
“I wasn’t allowed to wear short skirts and then my jeans
were also confiscated. And my mother got 12 salwar kameez sets made for me so that I wore only those because when I used to go to school, guys used to follow me,” Priyanka revealed on Farah Khan’s chat show “Tere Mere Beach Mein”.
But that phase is over for Priyanka who is counted among the most glamorous actresses in Bollywood today.
She will be seen with boxing champion Vijender Singh on the show on STAR Plus
Ken Ghosh’s next is finally titled ‘Chance Pe Dance’
Mumbai, After a musical chair of titles that ranged from “Star” to “Yahoo”, director Ken Ghosh’s next film, which has Shahid Kapoor in the lead, has finally been titled “Chance Pe Dance”.
“Yes, my film would be called ‘Chance Pe Dance’. It’s final and in fact the first ever title for which I am giving a confirmation. Everything else before this, whether it was ‘Star’ or ‘Yahoo’, was merely speculation and, as you would have noticed, no one attached to the cast or the crew ever gave an official statement,” Ghosh told IANS.
“Now hopefully all rumours would die as the film would hereby be known as
‘Chance Pe Dance’,” he added.
Since information about the title being “Chance Pe Dance” was leaked earlier, why didn’t he confirm the news then itself?
“Because we hadn’t got it on paper yet. Someone else was holding the title and we couldn’t have announced it as ours till all the formalities were carried out.
“We also had to be careful since the entire bargaining thing comes into the picture when the party that holds the title gets to know that it has been leaked out. However, all is well that ends well since on the Saturday gone by, we finally had ‘Chance Pe Dance’ as our title,” said Ghosh.
Considering the fact that the film, which also stars Genelia D’Souza, is a musical, a title like “Chance Pe Dance” does make sense.
“You can’t ignore the relevance of the word ‘chance’ here though. Life just gives you one chance and you have to grab it with both hands. This is what happens to my protagonist in the film too who makes best use of the chance available to him. He dances on it…pun intended, and what happens to him from thereon is to be seen in the film,” the director explained.
Ghosh had launched Shahid with his “Ishq Vishk” and the director is happy that his protege’s “Kaminey” has not only done well at the box office but sky-rocketed him into the top league.
“Well, such things do work in favour of your film for sure. But eventually it’s the product that matters. His ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is looking good as well and it would be nice to have two successful films behind Shahid when ‘Chance Pe Dance’ releases”, said Ghosh.
So when is the movie set to release?
“Well, it could be in November or December but, yes, the movie is releasing this year for sure,” he said.
No Hrithik or Abhishek yet for ‘Agneepath’ remake: Karan Johar
Mumbai, There have been speculations about who will play the male lead in the remake of the 1990 hit “Agneepath”. While the names of Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan popped up, filmmaker Karan Johar clarifies that no one has been finalised to play the part Amitabh Bachchan immortalised in the original.
“I haven’t made any statement whatsoever around the man who would eventually be playing the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan that was made
iconic by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. All I have said is that, yes, we are going ahead with a remake of ‘Agneepath’ and that’s about it,” Johar told IANS.
Whether it is Hrithik, Abhishek or someone else, Johar must be having a wish list?
“Well, the wish list is to get the screenplay right. For the moment nothing else is more important than that,” he said.
Even though the film is being produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Johar won’t be going behind the camera for the movie.
“True, I would be stepping aside and the film would be directed by Karan Malhotra, who has assisted me on ‘My Name Is Khan’. That’s the only thing which has been finalised… everything else you hear is mere speculation. We will finalise the cast once the script is locked. Currently, it is still in the process of being written,” he added.
Malhotra is not really a novice when it comes to filmmaking. He has earlier worked as an assistant director with Ashutosh Gowariker on “Jodhaa Akbar”, Farah Khan on “Main Hoon Na”, Farhan Akhtar on “Lakshya” and Raj Kumar Santoshi “Lajja and Pukar” amongst others.
Since it is close to two decades since the release of “Agneepath”, would the remake have a different milieu to it?
“Certainly! We are adapting the film from the original, but ours would be a new age version that would fit in well with today’s time. We really hope that we are able to do justice to the original and make the remake exciting for today’s generation,” Johar said.
Dharma Productions, meanwhile, has as many as seven films that are in different stages of production. These are “My Name Is Khan”, “Wake Up Sid”, “Kurbaan”, “Koochie Koochie Hota Hai”, remakes of Hollywood flick “Stepmom” and “Agneepath” and “I Hate Love Stories”.
How is he managing it all?
“Believe me, it’s not difficult at all. All you have to do is to follow a three-point mantra – delegation, outsourcing and trust. Along with that, if you have the right vision and infrastructure in place, which we do have in Dharma Productions, it isn’t difficult to crack it all.
“That’s the way you manage things and I have been fortunate enough to have a team with which it has become possible to helm a number of projects at the same time,” said Johar.
Among the seven films, three are ready to hit the screens.
“‘Wake Up Sid’ is all set to arrive on Oct 2. ‘Kurbaan’ will come in late November. Other than that, we are looking at an early 2010 release for ‘My Name Is Khan’. Yes, these have been busy and really exciting times,” the filmmaker said.
Bollywood on self-healing path with four hits
New Delhi, Energetic openings to Bollywood’s four recent releases, “New York”, “Kambakkht Ishq”, “Love Aaj Kal” and “Kaminey”, have succeeded in getting the business perk up. Wounded by a long strike earlier this year, the film industry is perhaps on a self-healing path now, say trade pundits.
The two-month-long stand-off between the producers-distributors and multiplex owners over revenue sharing, which was resolved June 5, led to a whopping Rs.300 crore (Rs.3 billion) loss to the Hindi film industry.
The dry spell was broken by Kabir Khan’s “New York” that released June 26 followed by the other three films — “Kambakkht Ishq” that came July 3, “Love Aaj Kal” July 31 and
“Kaminey” Aug 14 — raking in a net profit close to almost half the losses so far this year.
“These four films will do a net business of Rs.150 crore (Rs.1.5 billion) put together,” revealed an industry insider.
Said trade analyst Taran Adarsh: “The industry is definitely on a recovery path… it is getting better now, but we do need a big number of hits to follow as even an A-list movie like ‘Luck’ bombed.
“Every movie has a luck of its own. For example, a small-budget film like ‘A Wednesday’ had a moderate release last year but proved to be a dark horse. At the end of the day it’s the content that will win.”
Film critic Omar Qureshi had something similar to say.
“The industry is healing. Everyone was deprived of movies. There was a desperation to watch films and the audiences couldn’t handle it. So they took multiplexes by storm once good movies hit the screens and the result is worth watching,” said Qureshi.
“But that doesn’t mean mediocre movies will win the race too… it’ll only take big-budget and big-banner movies with a good story to make up for the losses and bring in footfalls,” he added.
The stand-off between producers-distributors and multiplex owners started in February over revenue-sharing. While the producers demanded a flat 50 percent share of all film revenues irrespective of the stars, budget and box-office collection, the exhibitors stressed on sharing profits based on the movie’s earnings.
As a result the producers declared a strike from April 4 onwards, which saw no big Bollywood releases in multiplexes across the country.
Now all eyes are set on an array of big releases after the lull.
The line-up includes Shahid Kapoor-Rani Mukerji starrer “Dil Bole Hadippa”, three movies of Salman Khan — “Wanted”, “Main Aur Mrs Khanna” and “London Dreams” — two Ranbir Kapoor-starrers “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” and “Rocket Singh – Salesman of The Year”, and Aamir Khan’s “3 Idiots”.
Apart from these, there are also Hrithik Roshan’s much-talked-about action thriller “Kites”, Priyanka Chopra’s “What’s Your Raashee?”, two movies starring Amitabh Bachchan — “Aladdin” and “Pa” — Akshay Kumar’s “De Dana Dan”, Govinda’s “Hook Ya Crook” and Neil Nitin Mukesh’s “Jail”.

You sign two films with a hero and it's said you're having a scene with him. Please, the only scenes I'm into are in front of the camera.
Why should I try to imitate Kajol? I am not a mimicry artist.
It's frustrating for the media to see me going about my work like Florence Nightingale - They'd like me to be Rangeeli Rani.
I'd never trade my dad's house, even for Buckingham Palace. I'm very sentimental about living with my parents.
I'd rather have a room full of cuddly teddy bears than a diamond necklace in a safe deposit locker.
On her character in The Rising (2005): "See, my role started as a cameo. I was supposed to play the widow Jwala's character - yes, the one Aishwarya Rai was supposed to have done. Now Amisha Patel is doing that. When I read the script, I fell in love with the small role of the prostitute. There were two or three very good scenes. The script underwent a change, and I got more space than before. But it's still a cameo - nothing like what Smita Patil did with Ketan Mehta in Mirch Masala, though I wish had."
I can never be rude to people who want photographs and autographs, but I don't like to be followed and stared at constantly.
My schedule for the day is somewhat fixed. I wake up early; go for my work-out. Play with the baby for a while, get ready and then I am off for my shoots. After work, I come home directly, play with her as long as she is awake. Then I have my dinner and hit the bed. That's it. My life revolves around my shooting schedules and Myeisha's daily routines.
I am here to act, entertain and make good films. I don't want to work hard for a film which does not even get released. I will cooperate with my director and help him make a good film. I get disappointed if my co-actors don't put in as much as I do. Today I am looking for banners and costars who have the same goal as me --- to work towards making a good film with dedication. I have made mistakes in my career, but that is just the learning process.
On Replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Chalte Chalte (2003): As a matter of fact, and I have said this before, I was the original choice for this role. Shah Rukh spoke to me about the film during Asoka. I didn't have dates, so Ash replaced me. When she couldn't do the film for whatever reason, Shah Rukh asked me to do it. I love Aamir and Shah Rukh in a different way. When Shah Rukh asks, I can't say no.
I am in the profession of acting and so to suit the character I sometimes have to indulge in kissing and provocative scenes. I have never felt comfortable shooting for kissing sequences. Although, kissing scenes like the ones in Yuva with Abhishek Bachchan and in Hum Tum with Saif were shot in an aesthetic manner. I am still pretty much uncomfortable performing such scenes.
On the State Dinner with President Pervez Musharraf: It was like a dream come true! To just be part of such an event made me feel that I've done something to achieve this. All the biggest dignitaries from both sides of the border were so cultured and down-to-earth. When I was invited, I was disbelieving and overjoyed. I'm really looking forward to going to Pakistan. Let's see where the invitation comes from. Maybe it will come directly from the Begum (President Musharraf's wife). They actually want me and Latabai (Lata Mangeshkar) to come to Pakistan!.
Fifty thousand people on the beach watching 'Chalte Chalte' with me, then asking me questions about the songs and dances, the idiom and language of expression was incredible. I don't think I'll ever forget my experience in Casablanca.
To be honest, when the media gets very curious about my personal life, I get a little worried because too much curiosity is not good for anybody's health.
I have been linked with all my heroes from Vivek Oberoi to Govinda. I deal with the controversies because it's a part of my profession, and I am not having an affair with anyone. They try to link me up so that I come across as a little more interesting for the viewers. Linking me with other stars is OK, but not Vivek!
I think what is essential to be an actress is that you should be confident enough, you should have patience, and you should be ready to do a lot of hard work.
I think what is really required as a trick to survive in the film industry is your dedication, patience, lot of hard work and no manipulation.
Preity Zinta and I have always shared a good working relationship. We were never great pals, but we vibe so well on-screen that to the media and outsiders it appears that we are great friends in real life, too.
Kareena Kapoor yet again on ‘Filmfare’ covers
Size zero girl Kareena Kapoor is the reigning fashion diva of Bollywood. So, it does not come as a surprise when we find glossy magazine covers repeating the pretty lass over and over again. This is the third time Kareena Kapoor is on the covers of ‘Filmfare’ magazine. She sizzles in
a bright yellow dress on the September issue of the magazine and looks extremely confident exposing her hot long legs without any footwear. Not to mention here that the girl has as much of right attitude as her acting skills!
Rani & Shahid promote ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ on TV
Rani Mukherjee will be back on silver screen with ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ after a long time, her last being ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’. She has taken special efforts in getting a toned body and flaunting it in a bikini. Nevertheless, she is taking keen interest in promoting the film along with her co-star Shahid Kapoor who is on a high these days post his success of
‘Kaminey’.
The duo was seen as special guests on the grand finale of the reality show ‘India’s Got Talent’ on 22nd August on Colors. Shahid awarded the trophy to The Prince Dance group who was declared the winner of this reality show after several relatives and friends of the group, apart from state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, corporate houses and social activists joined hands to vote en masse for them. They got a staggering Rs.50 lakhs (Rs.5 million) in cash and a swish newly-launched Maruti Suzuki Ritz car as the reward. The group, comprising 26 artistes, all below 22 years of age, spellbound everyone with their act, which was based on episodes from the Mahabharata.
The episode saw Shahid and Rani enjoying the performances and bonding well with the judges Sonali Bendre, Kirron Kher and filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor.
Ajay Devgan’s unique proposal to Bipasha Basu
After the underwater proposal made by Akshay Kumar to Kareena Kapoor in ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, Ajay Devgan is all set to propose Bipasha Basu from mid-air in director Rohit Shetty’s upcoming comedy ‘All The Best’. The scene has Ajay seated in a sports car dangling 8 feet above the ground and giving out a rose to Bipasha standing on the
road.
The scene being risky and difficult took two days planning and an entire day for shoot. The car, being suspended from mid air and Ajay’s need to balance his weight, there was extra precaution needed as Bipasha was standing below the car and nothing could go wrong. To add to it, it had to look completely romantic. The scene has been successfully shot.
Thankfully, everything went fine and the scene was shot during the course of a day.
Besides Ajay and Bipasha, ‘All The Best’ also features Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan and Mugdha Godse. The film is set for Diwali release.
Elesh shouldn’t be known as my husband: Rakhi Sawant
Mumbai, They got engaged amid much fanfare on national television but item girl Rakhi Sawant is worried about her Toronto-based fiance Elesh Parujanwala.
She is worried about him accepting her sexy image, his financial independence and, above all, she doesn’t want him to be just known as “Rakhi Sawant’s husband”.
“Will Elesh be able to support me financially? I don’t want
him to be known as Rakhi Sawant’s husband. I need time.
“I agree Elesh is educated and he comes from a wealthy family. But all of it belongs to his father. He has nothing of his own in Mumbai, not even a home. He needs time to settle down,” Rakhi, who selected Elesh through NDTV Imagine’s reality show “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”, told IANS in an exclusive interview.
She is also concerned about Elesh being comfortable with her sexy image.
“People are spreading dirty rumours about me. On the Internet they’ve morphed my face on naked bodies. Would Elesh be able to tolerate it?” asked Rakhi.
She is also disgusted by singer Mika’s attempts to gain mileage out of her name.
“I’m really tired of people using my name. I don’t want to give such people importance. I’ve learnt the hard way how to be dignified. Jesus has taught me to be calm. My good days are just beginning.”
Rakhi says she’ll marry Elesh only when he becomes economically self-sufficient.
“I don’t want him to be another Abhishek Awasthi (her ex-boyfriend) in my life. Yes, we’re engaged. I like him a lot. But how can I hand over my life to someone who isn’t earning a proper living?
“That’s why we’re going on another reality show to see whether we’re really as compatible as we seemed on ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’. I didn’t get enough time with him on that show. You and I saw his best face. Now I want to see the real Elesh.”
Her new show “Pati Patni Aur Woh”, which is likely to be aired next month on NDTV Imagine, is about parenting.
“I want to marry a man who can support me. In India, wives are supposed to be looked after by husbands, not vice versa. I don’t want him to come and stay in my house. I want to live in his house. I will wait for him to afford a house.
“I know Elesh is a decent guy. But is that enough? He has to be financially independent. He needed a place and a face to latch on to; that’s why he came on the show. Abhishek was so decent. But he was known as Rakhi’s boyfriend.”
Rakhi’s new show is about parenting, but kids give her a headache.
“I’ve a migraine problem. When a child cries, I get a severe headache. I don’t know how I’ll manage for a month with a stranger’s child.
“On top of that I’ve to cook on the show. I can’t cook to save my life. I don’t know how I’ll manage. I can’t even use make-up. Can you imagine Rakhi Sawant without makeup?” she said.
Asked how she’ll cope when she has her own kids, Rakhi replied: “Apna bachcha to har koi paal leta hai…jaanwar bhi. I don’t know how I’ll cope. I think I’m going to lose my cool completely. So far people have only seen the good Rakhi Sawant. Now they’ll see the real me.”
Speaking about ex-boyfriend Abhishek, she said: “I still consider him my good friend. I hope and pray he finds a good girl. If ever in life he needs me, I’ll always be there.
“If he needs me to be a dance partner in a reality show I’ll gladly do the needful. He has supported me a lot. I’ll always be thankful to him for getting my mother out of my life. That’s one good deed he did. If Abhishek hadn’t been there, I’d have not had the courage to break away from my family. I’d have been wallowing in mud.”
Toronto girl is crowned new Miss India-Canada
Toronto, In the biggest South Asian beauty pageant in North America, 25-year-old Aanchal Dogra was crowned Miss India-Canada 2009 here Sunday night.
Hailing from Mississauga on the outskirts of Toronto, Dogra was also the oldest contestant among 16 Indian-Canadian girls who vied for the title. “I cannot believe that I will be the winner of this beauty pageant,” said Dogra who holds an MD in alternative medicines.
The beauty crown puts Dogra in the league of Lisa Ray, Komal Sidhu and Ruby Bhatia who went on to become big names in the entertainment world.
Komal Sharma, 20, from Montreal, and Guneet Marwah, 21, from Richmond Hill near here were the two runners-up at the 19th edition of the Indian beauty contest.
Hollywood actor and singer Karen David, who was on hand to crown the winners of the pageant, treated the audience to one of her favourite number. Born in Shillong, raised in Toronto and trained in London, actor-singer David has played the lead role in Hollywood film ‘Scorpion King 2′ and ‘Provoked’. She has also lent her voice to compositions by A.R. Rehman and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Crowning Dogra as the new Miss India-Canada, David lavished praise on Indian culture and lauded the expatriate girls for keeping Indian native traditions alive in the West.
The three-hour-long evening show opened with all the girls strutting their desi stuff.
In fact, they opened their performances with the hit Bollywood song ‘Main Desi Girl’ from the film “Dostana”. And the desi fare was on display in abundance as the 16 contestants regaled the huge audience with their individual musical and dance skills – from bhangra to hit Bollywood numbers to bhajans.
Finally, they were put through quizzes by the judges who settled on Aanchal Dogra as the winner and Komal Sharma and Guneet Marwah as the two runners-up.
Apart from winning the Miss India-Canada crown and lavish beauty, monetary and electronic gifts, Dogra will also get free passage to India and five-star accommodation to spend time in the Bollywood town.
Shahid Kapoor: superstar on the ascendant
New Delhi, It’s all about Shahid Kapoor these days. His portrayal of the morally-incompatible twins – the ruffian with the endearing lisp and the simpleton who stammers – in “Kaminey” has catapulted the chocolate hero into an A-lister and audiences can’t stop raving.
And just so we don’t forget the romantic hero, promos of his forthcoming “Dil Bole Hadippa” are all over the place.
Six years after his debut in “Ishq Vishk”, Shahid has finally got his due.
“Shahid is one of the most promising actors on the block. With ‘Vivaah’ and ‘Jab We Met’ he established himself as a very good actor and a star. Now with ‘Kaminey’, he is in the A-league; he is definitely someone who will compete for the number one throne at a later date,” Meena Iyer, national Bollywood editor, The Times of India, told IANS.
“This is the most exciting phase of Shahid’s career. He has good work coming in ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’, Ken Ghosh’s tentatively titled ‘Yahoo’ and the new Parmeet Sethi film. If he chooses his future assignments with care, he will always be in a comfortable position,” she said.
“He has age on his side and the fact that he is a super-duper dancer and competent actor makes him a good bet for a reigning Hindi film hero,” she added.
Shahid wowed critics and fans alike with his portrayal of the shy groom in “Vivaah” and as the intense business tycoon in “Jab We Met”. But nothing has worked for him quite like Vishal Bharadwaj’s “Kaminey”, the dark thriller about gangsters, rebel soldiers, rogue politicians and crooked cops.
The Charlie-Guddu roles have shattered the conception that he was just the romantic. And critics believe the 28-year-old son of seasoned actor Pankaj Kapoor has made it to the big league.
“Shahid is going to be the next big thing…he has arrived. From a good-looking boy and a romantic hero, he has graduated to a star,” said film critic Omar Quereshi.
Added another noted film critic, Anupama Chopra: “This is the role – or roles – of a lifetime and Shahid Kapoor, best known for innocuous chocolate-boy romances, sinks his teeth into it. ‘Kaminey’ does for him what ‘Omkara’ did for Saif Ali Khan. A star has evolved into an actor.”
The star is taking the accolades in his stride.
“Yes, various tags have been given to me since the success of ‘Kaminey’. And I am very happy to hear them, but the most important thing is to keep doing good work and surprising the audience every now and then. That to me is the biggest reward,” Shahid told IANS.
“I can never be like my father (in terms of acting)…he is way beyond anyone to be like him. I don’t even have any aspirations to be like him because I know that’s not happening. I just hope whenever my father sees my films, he likes my work,” Shahid said.

SHAWDOW MOVIE REVIEW
shadow hindi movie review 2009
Imagine a blind person carrying off those hazardous, death-defying stunts... Just that effort deserves an applause.
Now let's come to the point. Shadow is more of a showreel to project the acting abilities of Nasser Khan, so, expectedly, the writing takes a backseat. The screenplay is very '70s and '80s, reminiscent of the masala films we enjoyed so much then. It's just that times have changed and so have the tastes of a big chunk of moviegoers.
Yet, there's no denying that there still exists a sizable chunk of movie-going audience that relishes masala films and Shadow is targeted at them.
The police have not been able to crack a serial murder case. Arjun Sherawat [Nasser Khan] is a man who is unseen and is the criminal. No one knows his identity. This case has been granted to Sanjana [Sonali Kulkarni], a police officer. She has been trying too hard, but all her efforts have been in vain.
Sheetal [Hrishitaa Bhatt] is a press reporter who loves her profession to the core. She works with a news channel and has information about the case as she follows it very closely.
Rahul [Milind Soman], a press reporter from another news channel, has also been following the case step by step. He constantly keeps nagging Sanjana about the case by questioning her from time to time.
Murders are still being committed at short intervals. Meanwhile, Sheetal passes a crucial information to police about the next target of Arjun Sherawat. But Arjun Sherawat meets with an accident and is presumed dead.
Everyone is in a joyous mood until they hear Arjun Sherawat's latest audio clip, which states that he will kidnap a famous builder Habeeb Faizal [Mushtaq Khan] in front of the police on a given date.
Everyone is stunned on hearing this. Meanwhile, Arjun Sherawat succeeds in kidnapping Habeeb Faizal. What happens next?
In an effort to showcase the heroic abilities of Nasser Khan, the writers throw logic out of the window while writing the scenes. The film holds your attention in the initial reels, but goes haywire in the second half. The romantic track between Nasser and Sonali is the weakest link in the narrative. So is the climax, which just doesn't work.
At the same time, the stunts and also a few individualistic sequences are deftly executed. Plus, the musical score [Anand Raaj Anand] is the type that caters to the masses and fits well for this genre.
Rohit Nayyar's shot compositions are perfect. Plus, technically speaking, it's a polished job. However, the writing lets him down at places. Cinematography is good. The stunts deserve special mention.
Nasser Khan is not an actor and though this is evident in several sequences, you don't really complain because you haven't come to watch the histrionics in any case. It's the curiosity factor that has drawn you towards this film, right?
Milind Soman gives a good account of himself. Sonali Kulkarni looks grossly over-weight, but does well nonetheless. However, what was the need to make her do an item song? Hrishitaa Bhatt and Samir Aftab get minimal scope.
Sachin Khedekar enacts the mandatory villain's part with ease. Vishwajeet Pradhan and Mushtaq Khan are commendable.
On the whole, Shadow caters more to the hardcore masses mainly. A film for single screens
