Maro Charitra Telugu Movie Review:

Story:

Finally dil Raju and varun Sandesh also got flop film in their carrier. By this also director's should realise that be careful whlie remake of old film. well going in to story, Balu (Varun Sandesh) is born and brought up in USA. Swapna (Anita) moves to USA because her father’s research on Telugu folk songs is being encouraged by a university in USA. Balu and Anita are neighbours. Balu’s father (Pratap Pothan) is highly sophisticated and is extremely strict in nature. Anita’s mother (Urvashi) is highly rustic (Srikakulam accent) and narrow-minded. Balu and Anita fall in love, but parents oppose. Parents put a restriction that if these two lovers don’t meet/communicate for a year, then they can get married. Balu joins a job. His boss (Shraddha Das) is a tender woman who is coming out of depression due to a personal loss. Anita’s brother-in-law (Adarsh Bala Krishna) tries to create rift between Balu and Anita. Rest of the film is about how love prevails and lovers overcome all the obstacles.

Analysis:

A film like old classic Maro Charitra becomes totally irrelevant in the presence scenario. We had seen many similar films with similar backdrops released after Maro Charitra. The conflict point and fun element in this movie has become clichéd by now. Hence, it poses a great challenge to the filmmakers to come up with an adaptation/remake. Director Ravi Yadav doesn’t do justice to the movie and the latest version lacks soul. Though the movie is technically brilliant (music, cinematography and production values), the wrong casting and unattractive narration lets the movie down. On a whole, Maro Charitra disappoints even if we don’t compare it with the classic.

Artists Performance:
Varun Sandesh looks dashing as a NRI youngster. However he accent is highly artificial. I liked Varun Sandesh’s spontaneity in Happy Days and I expected the director to extract it more in this film. But the characterization of hero in this movie doesn’t gel well. Anita looks good in modern dresses that she wore in songs. But she is unappealing in traditional outfits. Director tried to extract creative expressions from her, but something is amiss due to unappetizing characterization. Shardaddha Das is endearing in a short role. She suits modern characters very well. Upcoming actor Adarsh Bala Krishna did the role of heroine’s bava. His sophisticated accent and looks are apt for this role. The character artists chosen for parents characters are from Tamilnadu. Though they have done well, it creates nativity problems in Telugu. That is the reason why the scenes involving Kota, Venky and Venu offer relief because their language is the only familiar language in the entire movie. Venky entertains with his Telangana accent (especially dinaamu... dialogue). Naresh played the role of a local cop. Though he has done well, his fake NRI accent doesn’t render credibility to his character.

Story - screenplay - direction: This is the remake of yesteryear’s classic Maro Charitra. Hence story and screenplay is borrowed from the old movie. Though Maro Charitra is a great film, it holds no relevance and freshness in the contemporary scenario. Old movie banks on the cultural differences between a couple (Tamil boy and Telugu girl). The director has modified it to a rustic girl and uber-cool boy. If Vizag beach was the backdrop of old film, Niagara Falls is the backdrop for the new movie. Debutant director Ravi Yadav fails to recreate the magic of old classic. He doesn’t have grip of narration. It is a love story and establishing romance between the lead pair should be impact making. But the director couldn’t get it right in the movie. The movie also shows director’s lack of understanding of Telugu language and local sensibilities. Since the movie is set in USA, the director should have cast Telugu character actors to get feeling of familiarity. By having Tamil actors (Pratap Pothan, Thalaivasal Vijay and Urvasi) doing the roles of lead pair’s parents, the movie becomes much unfamiliar. May be the producer wanted it to be dubbed in Tamil if this movie becomes a hit in Telugu. One scene that deserves appreciation is the one where lovers feel the presence but avoid making eye contact in Times Square, NY.

Music by Mickey J Meyer is excellent. It is a big challenge to score fresh music for old lyrics and Mickey came up with fabulous job. Background score by Thaman is also good. Cinematography by Ravi Yadav is a huge asset to the movie. His top class cinematography is a treat to eyes. The locations chosen are excellent. All the songs are shot in exquisite locales. Probably no other Telugu movie in the past was shot in USA so beautifully. The Niagara falls, Las Vegas (we don’t care song), Times Square and Salt landscapes in Utah (Bhale Magadivoy song) are superbly mounted. Editing is ok. Dialogues by Anuradha have depth in them, but they appear verbose on the screen as the scenes are not conceived in an interesting manner. Matinee Entertainments and Dil Raju have spent a lot of money on quality of the movie and it shows on the screen.

Final View:

Ram Gopal Varma did it with remake of Sholay. Dil Raju/Ravi Yadav has come near to that with this remake of Maro Charitra. Better rent or buy the original Balachander’s Maro Charitra, you would definitely like it, even today. Its a very Dissapointing Film.

Taj mahal Telugu movie review:

Story:
After long time hero Sivaji find the root to sucess. This film not an very big hit but it will give some moral to audince. well coming in to Story' Ajay (Sivaji) hails from a poor farmer’s family. He is a student who studies in an engineering college in Vizag. He falls in love with a rich fellow student called Shruti (Shruti). Shruti is a practical girl, but falls in love with a person she never met. She rejects Ajay’s proposal. She starts hating him. The rest of the story is all about how Ajay realises that parents love is more precious than love of a college mate.

TajMahal Movie Analysis:
First half of the movie is mediocre. Second half is better and climax is heart-touching. Plus points of the movie are story, lead pair (Sivaji & Shruti) and the climax. On the flip side, the first half should have been better and all-round entertainment is missing. Sivaji should be proud to produce such a story-oriented movie as his first venture. On a whole, Taj Mahal is a decent movie with a message supporting parents. If the common moviegoer laps up the climax, this movie has all chances to become a success.

Artists Performance:
Sivaji comes up with his career’s finest performance in this movie. He does extremely well in emotional scenes. First time actress Shruti is competent. Her body language and expressions are natural. Kota comes up with another fine performance. Raghubabu is extremely good in emotional scenes. Brahmanandam entertains in a couple of scenes. LB Sreeram gives his philosophical touch towards the climax with his cameo. Arti Agarwal did a special appearance as college professor Maisamma.

Technical departments:
screenplay - direction: This movie is remade from a Kannada blockbuster titled Taj Mahal. Story of the movie is good with a heart touching content towards the end. The movie shows the importance of parents who shower unconditional love and discourages the love shown by youngsters towards girls who may not reciprocate. Debutant director Arun Singaraju is good at emotional scenes, but should concentrate more on getting it right in casual and entertainment-oriented scenes. For a first timer, he comes up with a decent work. Screenplay of the movie is good in the second half.

Other departments:
Music of the movie is nice. Nee meede manasupadi is very melodious. Cinematography is adequate. Dialogues are decent. Editing is alright. Actor Sivaji makes a nice debut as producer by choosing a nice story with a strong and relevant message in it.

Final View:
For a long time, films have been used as a medium to convey a message to the audience. While some film makers chose to let the audience interpretthe film , the other have managed to forcibly convey a message loud and clear. So then, what is the message conveyed in ‘Tajmahal’? Contrary to what ‘Tajmahal’ stands for,the film drives home the point that love should take a backseat, when you have to choose between love and parents. It tells you that love is just a part of our lives and we shouldn’t neglect our studies, career. Will this voice be heard amidst scores of films which profess ‘Love is Life’? Well, that remains to be seen. And I am not trying to convey a message,the film is open for your interpretation.

Ye Maya Chesave Telugu Movie review:
Story:
Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is an engineering graduate who wants to pursue his career as a film director. Samantha is his neighbour and he falls in love with her at the very first sight. But there are two catches. One is that she is elder to him and the bigger hitch is that she is a Malayali Christian. He proposes to her and she slowly falls for his guts and his perseverance. Her strict father comes to know about it and settles her marriage. She loves him, but can’t hurt her entire family by marrying him. The rest of the story is all about how Karthik achieves his passion to become a film director and tastes success at the personal front.
Movie Analysis:
I had never seen such a wonderful movie that deals with the straightforward nature of a man and complex nature of a woman so perfectly. Everybody must have gone through these moments in their lives and you are sure to get nostalgic watching some moments in this movie. The entire movie is excellent and extremely engaging except for 10 minutes (in second half from the breakup to the scene where other female proposes him). It takes guts and tremendous conviction makes a movie like Ye Maya Chesave from the director, producer and hero (It was Naga Chaitanya who set this combination up). All three of them should be appreciated for making this movie happen. Ye Maya Chesave movie should do extremely well in multiplexes and A centers. I wish/hope/want this movie to do well in B/C centers as well. This film has all the ingredients for a movie to remain as a timeless classic. Go and watch it!!

Artists Performance:
Naga Chaitanya: Naga Chaitanya is extremely natural in the role of Karthik. It is basically a conversational film with too many tight close-ups. It takes real confidence and acting prowess to do such scenes in an authoritative manner. Naga Chaitanya proves that he is a brilliant actor with his performance in this movie. His dialogue delivery and body language is highly authentic. You are not going to believe that this is his second film after watching his performance. It’s a top notch effort from him and he will do wonders in the future.

Samantha: Samantha’s debut is one of the best heroine debuts in Telugu cinema. This dusky beauty is highly charming and she is cool in acting as well. The minute expressions she gave spoke volumes about her. Lots of credit should go to director for etching her beautiful characterization. I absolutely loved the voice of the artist who dubbed her. She is the same one who dubbed the voice of Sameera Reddy in ‘Surya s/o Krishnan’. It’s husky and contemporary.
Others: Krishnudu is very good as hero’s friend. Sanjay Swaroop (producer and husband of Manjula) did the role of hero’s father and he suited it well. Puri Jagan played as himself for a few scenes. Trisha and Simbhu (who acted in the Tamil version of the same) did a cameo. All other actors are cast appropriately. Surekha Vani is very good.

Technical departments:
Men are simple and women are complex. When it comes to love, man proposes to a woman with plain heart and with no complications. Women, on the other hand make simple things complicated with their complex behaviour. Gowtam Menon has beautifully explored that point and penned a wonderful story of a simple guy who would do anything for love and a complex girl who keeps vacillating about taking decisions.

screenplay - direction: Screenplay of the movie is very good. The movie could end at any point after interval. It needs tremendous narrative skills and screenplay to make people get interested in the second half because the movie can end at the moment hero/heroine converge upon on marriage. I loved the love episodes between Surya and Sameera Reddy (train scene) in Surya s/o of Krishnan and wondered when he is going to make such a story into a full-leangth feature film and Gowtam Menon answered my wish with his next movie by filling it full of magical moments and sweet nothings. It’s a astonishing work by Gowtam Menon. You can’t separate a moment from the movie to be the best. This movie is like a seamless flow of visual poetry.

Other departments:
Music by AR Rehman is awesome. Songs are extremely good and background score, rerecording and mixing is perfectly done. All songs are picturized extremely well. Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa breath-taking. The choice of locations and camera work blended seamlessly. Dialogues by Anuradha are extremely natural and contemporary. Art direction by Rajeevan is superb. Editing my Anthony is flawless. Production values by Indira Productions are impeccable.
Final View:
Gautham Menon weaves magic with some beautiful romantic moments on screen with Ye Maaya Chesave. Great chemistry between the young star couple, great visuals, nice songs, and heart touching scenes really grab you. It is simple but sensitively, realistically made with lot of conviction. The movie haunts you and stays in you even after leaving the movie hall. Go for it and enjoy.

Story And Movie Analysis:
In times when you can’t grab the audiences’ attention even by directly speaking to them, here’s a protagonist who speaks to himself and yet connects with the audience amazingly.
The title is giveaway to the gist of the story. Karthik Narayan (Farhan Akhtar), a socially shy guy, has been this geeky loser at workplace with no friends and a frightful-fat boss (Ram Kapoor). He secretly desires to date the sexy hot girl in office, Shonali (Deepika Padukone) but never dares to speak to her.
Life changes overnight when he starts getting call from a voice claiming to be himself, Karthik. However this inner voice is harmless and provides a helping hand in infusing courage and confidence in Karthik that helps him gain respect in professional life and love in personal. But when everything seems to be working in his favour, the voice turns hostile in maligning his image and making him lose everything it had helped him gain in the first place.
Written and directed by debutante Vijay Lalwani, the filmmaker is in complete control of the craft and is a smart storyteller. Right from the outset, the film grips you with a quick establishment of the character and before stretching his misery, the doppelganger is introduced. Under his guidance, the nerdy class-topper Karthik transforms into a cool dude. The sudden switchover in his attitude and body language might seem far-fetched but nonetheless the viewer always admires a winning hero.
The genre smoothly switches from drama to a refreshing romance track and finally gives way for a taut thriller twist in the climax. The love story between Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone is mush-free and rather brewed over fresh and frothy coffee cups and vivacious vodka shots. Through funny one-liners and casual conversations, the couple strikes comfortable chemistry.
As the thriller treatment takes over, the director skillfully takes the drama to the threshold of tense moments. At the same time he plays with the psyche of the viewer, keeping him guessing about the subgenre of the suspense induced. One wonders whether the inexplicable telecommunication has a supernatural connection like in Madhavan’s recent horror flick 13 B . Or there is a psychological angle with a split-personality link like the ones prominently applied in films from Aks to Aparachit . Or Karthik actually has an alter-ego like most superhero films. But the logical explanation that the film offers to the mystery is the most gratifying culmination that the thriller could have opted for and beyond any predictable and perceptible perimeters.
Technically the film is a slick product. The cinematography by Sanu Varghese is commendable and Aarti Bajaj’s editing is crisp. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s breezy tunes complement the couple’s chemistry as much as the background score by Midival Punditz adds effect to the thrills. Niharika Khan’s costume designs are elegant making Deepika Padukone look desirable in short skirts and giving a sassy makeover to Farhan Akhtar.
Vijay Lalwani also extracts impressive performances from his cast. Farhan Akhtar makes a remarkable switch in his character from being socially challenged to self-assured. He never imposes himself above the script and remains subtle and sincere through his act. Deepika Padukone is one of the most confident actresses of present times and glides through the role as smoothly as her persona. Ram Kapoor is notable as the wicked boss. Shefali Shah is decent in her part.
Final view:
Karthik Calling Karthik is a film calling in all admirers and connoisseurs of intelligent thrillers. Amidst several missed calls, blank calls, wrong numbers and cross connections (read tacky thrillers), this call from a new number (read debutante director Vijay Lalwani) is worth attending.

Teen Patti Hindi Movie Review:

Its mathematics not magic’ says Amitabh Bachchan about his special prowess to predict cards and subsequently the winners in the game of flash. The reverse would have been more believable. Because in all probability and using all arithmetical permutations and combinations, the accuracy of his anticipation still seems to be an impractical achievement as per mathematical logic.
Of course to save you from a crash course in algebra, the crazy calculations are restricted only within the mastermind’s brains. And with this liberty, director Leena Yadav attempts to pull off a gamble that’s only partly successful.
Loosely on the lines of the Hollywood flick 21 , the makers substitute the MIT institute with its Bombay prototype – BIT and the game of Black Jack with the more popular Indian counterpart – Teen Patti (flash). Unfortunately what they don’t realize is that the summation of card counting in Black Jack (of 21 ) can’t be equated to the precision of probability in flash (in Teen Patti ).

Story And Movie Analysis:
Venkat Subramaniam (Amitabh Bachchan) teaches mathematics at the university and is working on the theory of probability and randomness which is rejected and ridiculed by the faculty. Through some random experimentation he realizes that he can foresee cards through the application of his theory in the game of flash.
Another professor Shantanu (Madhavan) helps him in putting together a team of college students Aparna (Shraddha Kapoor), Sid Bajaj (Siddharth Kher), Bikram (Dhruv Ganesh) and Abbas (Vaibhav Talwar) through whom they enter the real world of gambling. Trained to communicate through unique body language, Venkat learns their cards on the gambling table and manipulates the game in their favour to win easy money. Soon the group’s greed goes up and the gamble turns big. But there’s trouble in paradise when they are blackmailed by an unknown caller.
After playing with words in her last film Shabd , director Leena Yadav attempt to play with numbers in Teen Patti . Ignoring the practicality of the gambling game, the film starts on an interesting note with decent buildup to the plot. Leena Yadav shows ‘flashes’ of brilliance in ‘dealing’ with the progression of the gambling racket from shady prohibited properties to elite classy parties. But with repetitive gambling episodes adding no new perspective to the film, the proceedings tend to get monotonous after a point.
Cameos by everyone from Jackie Shroff to Ajay Devgan are miserably misused. One expected some chemistry between Shakti Kapoor and daughter Shraddha Kapoor in the single scene that they share. But there’s zilch. Comparatively Mahesh Manjrekar is more amusing amongst the special appearances though he almost duplicates the look and act of the character he played in 99 .
But where the film primarily fails is in clicking as a suspense flick. To start with the extortionist’s identity doesn’t come as a surprise amidst half a dozen usual suspects. And the attempt to have an additional twist through a double-crosser is simply indigestible. Also the film loses on its scope of developing the internal tension between the six players on doubting each other as the betrayer like in Reservoir Dogs or Bachchan’s desi version Kaante .



The Madhavan – Raima Sen romance track is so frail that the film could have clearly done without it. What (unintentionally) works as a bigger suspense in the film is Madhavan’s two-timing with a firang (Saira Mohan) that never comes across till she ditches him. The comic timing of the characters often fall flat and Yadav can’t let go of the tendency to add extreme dramatic intensity intermittently, which seems unneeded. Like in Shabd , the treatment goes abstract in certain scenes like when one of the team-members (Dhruv Ganesh) goes paranoid of flashing cameras.
Technically the film is well-handled with superior cinematography by Aseem Bajaj, decent art direction and apt costume designs by Ameira Punvan. Salim-Sulaiman’s music and background score could have been better.



Of the cast, Amitabh Bachchan is animated and dramatic throughout but still manages to be the ace of the pack. Madhavan qualifies as a close king with his restrained act. Shraddha Kapoor looks like a polished version of Priyanka Kothari but shows immense potential to be the queen someday. Dhruv Ganesh is decent but could go easy on his intensity and expressions. Siddharth Kher and Vaibhav Talwar are competent. One wonders why Mita Vashisht was employed for a single scene, redundant to the plot. Saira Mohan looks jaded. Raima Sen is wasted. Blame it on the deceiving trailers but one expected more power play between Ben Kingsley and Big B.

Final view:
Teen Patti ends up being the kind of gamble that’s no big deal.
