After studying mass communications in New York, Meera worked with a leading national news television channel(NDTV) As a programmer executive. but soon gave it up because she felt she was given a raw deal. she is originally from the modeling world. Her first film was Anbe Aaruyire (Tamil) produced and directed by S.J. Suryah in 2005 and she changed her name as Neela in this film. she is known as Nila in the Tamil cinema industry.
