3 IDIOTS HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:

Story:
Rancho (Amir Khan), Farhan (Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) are classmates in a premiere engineering college in India. They are from different backgrounds (one ultra rich, one middle class and another poor economic background). Dean Viru (Boman Irani) is a follows a strict regime and believes in putting peer pressure on students. Rancho is of opinion that students should never chase grades, but they should love what they are doing. The rest of the story is all about how Rancho makes a difference to his friends and proves that the dean is wrong.
MOVIE ANALYSIS:
In a late scene from the film, 2 of the 3 idiots zip down their pants and pat their bottoms facing the third idiot. Rather than feeling gross at that instant, you have a lump in throat. For the zillionth time in a Hindi film, a bride runs away from the pheras on her wedding day. But the scene still doesn’t come across as clichéd. For a group of all-male engineering students, to ‘deliver’ means to literally carry out a delivery operation on a woman in labour pain. And when the motionless newborn responds to a goodwill chant of ‘ aal izz well ’ in true-blue Manmohan Desai mode, you fail to find a fault in the filmi formula. That’s the golden touch of Rajkumar Hirani! So after successfully dispensing philosophies of ‘ Jaadu ki jhappi ’ in Munnabhai MBBS and ‘ Gandhigiri ’ in Lage Raho Munnabhai , Hirani incites a new philosophy of ‘ Aal izz well ’ in 3 Idiots . And like his doctrine, all is well in his helluva film. Loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller Five Point Someone , 3 Idiots takes the plot much beyond the campus confines and the target audience much above the youth, for universal appeal. The story starts a decade after the graduation of college companions Farhan (R Madhavan) and Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi) who get a clue on the whereabouts of their missing third friend Rancho (Aamir Khan). As they set out on a road trip from Delhi to Shimla to Manali to Ladakh to find their friend, the narrative cuts to and fro into flashbacks as we are introduced to the three idiots in an engineering college. Rancho clearly is different from anyone else in the college with his individualistic thought-process and rebellious attitude, which invites the ire of the college principal (Boman Irani) and affection of his daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor). Coming from Rajkumar Hirani, there was clearly a risk involved in the film’s setting and characterizations for having a déjà vu effect with his first film. Boman Irani, as the principal, almost revives his disciplinarian dean characterization from Munnabhai MBBS which is more palpable with his disgust towards the rebellious protagonist, Rancho (akin to Sanjay Dutt) who is furthermore in love with his daughter (ala Gracy Singh). Nevertheless, Hirani’s direction is so impeccable that without a conscious effort, the analogy never strikes your mind and the scenario never looks repetitive. In his trademark style, Hirani grabs your attention from scene one with an unconventional opening to the film. Thereafter every single scene written in the screenplay (by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi) is not just relevant but also has a clear set objective – to be funny or be deeply poignant. Which means it either makes you laugh or cry and at some superlative instances do both simultaneously (which is an achievement). The writers have kept absolutely no room for any intermediate option. The introduction sequence of the principal is hilarious and so is an annual day Hindi speech of honour by an NRI student. Raju Rastogi’s poverty-stricken family is introduced with such nonchalance in spoofy black-and-white frames that what could have ideally been a melodramatic tear-jerker scene is transformed into a laugh-riot. The short-n-smart suspense induced at the interval point teases your anticipation. Sharman’s revival scene in hospital reminds of the inspiring carom board scene from Munnabhai MBBS while the delivery sequence in the pre-climax is tackled tactfully and tastefully. The excellence in screenplay can’t be summed up in merely a paragraph. In fact even the romantic song Zoobie Doobie is one of the most creatively conceptualized numbers since ‘ Dhoom Taana ’ ( Om Shanti Om ) or ‘ Woh Ladki Hai Kahan ’ ( Dil Chahta Hai ). The writers also represent a lot of their ideologies through the thoughtful dialogues touching several academic issues from grading systems, parental pressure, student suicides, conformist coaching to theoretical knowledge, without getting preachy at any instance. Sample a straightforward gem that says, “Even a lion learns to obey his ringmaster. But you call him well-trained and not well-educated”. Several engineering jokes make way into the script and never fail to make you laugh.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS:
Shantanu Moitra’s music is in perfect sync with the mood of the film. C K Muraleetharan’s cinematography and Hirani’s editing are flawless. Manish Malhotra, Sheena Parekh and Raghuveer Shetty’s informal styling succeeds in giving the film it’s trendy campus feel and the 30 plus trio convincingly pass off as college students.

ARTIST PERFORMANCE:
Performances are a highlight with Aamir Khan clearly stealing the show in the role of the sharp, optimistic, livewire Rancho. He is so effortlessly natural in his act that you take a moment to analyze and appreciate this as one of his career-best performances. Sharman Joshi is as much competent showing brilliance in both funny and emotional moments. Madhavan has an easy screen presence and perfectly complements his costars for amazing companion chemistry. Kareena Kapoor may have less screen-time but this is amongst one of her most appealing acts. And that is beyond her gorgeous looks. Boman Irani is exceptionally good as the principal. Despite adding a lisp to his character, he doesn’t make a caricature out of it, which is the usual tendency. His mannerisms so distinctively remind you of the professors from your college days. Omi as the nerdy NRI symbolizes the teacher’s pet you encounter in every classroom.

FINAL VIEW:
Rajkumar Hirani serves you idealism but with utmost conviction. He is able to establish a compelling connect with his audience, qualifying himself as one of the finest filmmakers of his time. Who else can turn something as trivial as pudina chatni into a price indicator? The film redefines idiot as ‘I do it on my own terms’. After watching the film, you won’t mind being certified as an idiot. If you still don’t approve of the film, you are a certified cynic.
‘ 3 Idiots ’ is one of the most entertaining films of the decade.

AVATAR MOVIE REVIEW:
“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart,” said William Wordsworth. Thus, without letting our admiration for James Cameron come in the way of our verdict on ‘Avatar’, with a heavy heart, we’ll have to say that we found Cameron’s highly anticipated, expensive motion picture ‘Avatar’ was reached up to our expectations.

STORY:
The story happens in 22nd century. Human scientists discover that there is another planet called Pandora which contains rich minerals which are quite valuable. The army takes up the mission on going to Pandora and rob the minerals. But there is a problem. There is a sect of na’vis, a humanoid race are inhabitants of Pandora. They are quite tall with blue skin, golden eyes and a supple tile. There is not enough oxygen over there and human beings can’t survive. The scientists invent a new process (kind of Matrix process) of Avatar which makes select human beings look-alike of na’vis and sends them across to Pandora to get more information so that their military attack would be immaculate. Jake (Sam Worthington) is a marine who lost his legs in a warfare. His identical twin brother was groomed to be an Avatar, but dies. The Colonel promises his legs back (an expensive operation) if he cooperates to be an Avatar. After going to Pandora as an Avatar, Jake realises that the sect of na’vis are kind-hearted people who co-exist with the nature. He falls in love with the local princess Neyitiri (Zoe Saldana). Jake has orders to follow, But, he learns that Colonel is destroying good people for the sake of minerals. He decides to save Pandora from humans. The rest of the story is all about how he achieves it.
AVATAR MOVIE ANALYSIS:
James Cameron adds his tremendous creativity into imaginative 3D and VFX technology and shows us how passion for movies can create path-breaking movies like Avatar. The 3D effect, visual effects and the colors transport you into a new dream world you had never imagined. Avatar is supposed to be an alien movie and aliens are supposed to be unfamiliar (that’s why they are called aliens). The na’vis in this movie are excellent and they are familiar despite of blue skin, golden eyes and long tail. The na’vis bond with various animals and co-exist with them. The Pandora world is pleasant with its colors and is easy on eyes. The night vision of Pandora is a visual feast with pleasing florescence colors. There are floating mountains, flying dragons with butterfly colors, flies that look like jelly-fishes etc. The big tree is amazing.
We see the story taking backseat in most of the technical extravaganzas. But Cameron made sure that he gives equal preference to storytelling in Avatar.
This film shows the greed of certain human beings who stop at nothing to achieve money/power. This film also shows the humanity of certain human beings who are willing to sacrifice everything to stop the destruction. Avatar is an eco-friendly movie.
Princess of Pandora falling in love with a stranger from another place is an age-old and commercially successful formula. James Cameron has taken the magnificent canvas of the universe to narrate this love story.
I felt like the ‘Alice in wonderland’ while watching this movie. We enter the breathtaking land of aliens and root for them throughout the movie. The background music has Indianness in it. On the whole, Avatar is an entertaining, absorbing, ground-breaking and pleasant (not alien) film. Book your tickets right away and watch Avatar in 3D format. And feel yourself extremely lucky if you got an IMAX theatre in the city you live.

FINAL VIEW:
Go and watch Avatar to the magical experience on silver screen. After Matrix, Avatar has the capability of changing the course of filmmaking in the coming years. Visual feast from master director James Cameron. This is the film of the year 2009.

Khiladi Akshay to represent India at Winter Olympics

Bollywood’s Khiladi No. 1 Akshay Kumar feels privileged as well as nervous to run with the XXI Winter Olympics torch on Thursday in Canada. The XXI Winter Olympics are slated to start from on February 12,
2010 in which around 80 countries are participating. The competition includes eight sports, like ice hockey, figure skating and Alpine skiing. Last time in 2006, India had sent a team of four members to the competition held in Turin, Italy for sports luge, cross-country skiing and Alpine skiing, but India didn’t win any medal. So it seems like the pride of the nation is in Akshay’s hand this time.

When we wonder how an actor is chosen for the honour, Akshay explained, “I definitely didn’t get nominated because of my cricket skills. I may be a celebrity, but with great power comes even greater responsibility. I have put a lot of effort over the years supporting and being brand ambassador for the ‘Special Olympics’ in India. I would go to any lengths to promote sport in my country, my efforts have been appreciated worldwide, and I am touched that India shares my enthusiasm. To be honoured to carry the Olympic torch is so prestigious in every country; you can’t ask for this honour, you can only be recognised for your true love and dedication to children, to sport, to bettering your country’s involvement in the world. You can’t imagine how grateful I am. And how nervous as well!”

Akshay will be the only actor among 14 other international celebrities to run with the torch.

Rocket Singh Hindi Movie Review:
Like Swades and Lage Raho Munnabhai which came before it, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is a film about the importance of basic goodness.
In an industry driven by opening weekends and bumper collections, it's that oddball film that seldom compromises on its intentions for the sake of becoming more box-office friendly. As a result the film feels too long, indulgent even, and ever-so-often it appears uncinematic.
That's hardly surprising, considering much of the film is shot in basic office spaces and features long conversations between its characters. But don't be fooled by its appearance; Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is a film with all heart.

Story:
Well coming in to story , Harpreet Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) is just out of college and he joins a computer sales and service company as a trainee. He is pure at heart and wants to be honest in his work. His forthright attitude costs him a lot in his company. He is forced to sit out and do dirty work. His boss believes in bribing and getting sales orders at any cost. Vested by the way his company treats him, Harpreet want to show his entrepreneurial skills. He floats a secret company called ‘Rocket’ and bags orders and wins loyal customers. He uses the resources and employees of the office. The rest of the story is all about what happens when his boss finds out the truth!

Movie Analysis:
Meticulously written by Jaideep Sahni, the genius behind such gems as Khosla Ka Ghosla and Chak De India, the script of Rocket Singh is its real star. Seeking inspiration in real life and real people, the film avoids stereotypes and goes for characters and situations that are refreshingly familiar – the team-leader who fudges conveyance vouchers, the cut-throat competitive co-workers, the porn-surfing maintenance guy, even the promotion-seeking receptionist.
Taking the cue from Sahni's script, director Shimit Amin bravely resists any temptation to glamorise the world they've set the film in, by rooting the drama in a space that is basic and without frills. An office party scene is filmed with colleagues drinking out of plastic cups, loosening their ties and dancing to songs being played out of a computer. Even the film's opening credits sequence in which the camera lovingly floats over a middle-class home's bric-a-brac is evidence of the makers' commitment to authenticity.
But Rocket Singh touches a chord because it's that rare film that urges us to examine our lives and to question the rules by which we live it. It has a life-affirming quality that will appeal to every one of us who has ever hesitated before taking the easy way over the right way.
The film isn't without hiccups, though. Overly long, especially in its first half, Rocket Singh suffers on account of sluggish pacing, and occasional indulgences like that unduly stretched-out confession monologue by Harpreet's boss in the film's climax.
Remarkable casting has resulted in some fine performances by key players, although even the bit parts are filled out convincingly. D Santosh as the affable maintenance guy, Mukesh Bhatt as the tea-man with computer-repair skills, Naveen Kaushik as the oddly sideburned team head, and Gauhar Khan as the cutting receptionist pitch in commendable performances.
Of course it's topped off by Ranbir Kapoor's compelling, effortless portrayal of Harpreet Singh Bedi. Ranbir adds the little touches that make all the difference: combing the beard, tucking in the turban, lifting the 'kada' further up his arm before dipping his hand into a bucket of wet clothes. He's an actor you can't take your eyes off.
In the end, Rocket Singh is a clean, honest film with noble intentions. It requires patience to appreciate it fully, but deserves a viewing because films like this are hard to find. I'm going with three-and-a-half out of five and a thumbs up for director Shimit Amin's Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.
Other departments:
Other technical departments: Dialogues are witty. Background music by Salim and Sulaiman is adequate. Cinematography is neat. Editing should have been crisp as the entire movie is of 2 and half hours duration (that’s too without any songs.).

Final View:
Ranbir dont dissapointed the audience with his new film. A line from the film states, “ Risk toh Spiderman ko bhi lena padta hai, main toh phir bhi Salesman hoon ” (Even Spiderman has to take risk, I am just a Salesman). The makers have taken as much risk to sell a not-so-regular story to the audiences. And it has paid off pretty well. Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year is one of the most rocking films of the year. so dont miss this film. it very good film to watch this weekend.
