NTR’s 'Shakti' launched in grand style :

Young Tiger NTR’s new film, Shakati, in the direction of Meher Ramesh of Katri fame was launched today (January 28, 2010) in grand style at a golf club near Gachchibowli in Hyderabad. As Vyjayanthi Movies was formally launched on the same day 35 years ago by late NTR, producer Ashwini Dutt started this film with NTR Jr in grand style. K Raghavendra Rao, Dasari Narayana Rao and Krishnam Raju did the honours of sounding clapboard, switching on the camera and directing the first muhurat shot. NTR participated in the film’s muhurat but heroine Ileana could not attend the function.
“35 Years ago, I started Eduruleni Manishi with Late NTR on our banner Vyjayanthi Movies. NTR also named the banner. So I have decided to launch this film with his grandson on this day. From NTR Sr to NTR Jr, this banner has produced some biggest blockbusters, worked with all big stars in Tollywood and best technicians in India. We are proud to start this new film, Shakti, on this occasion with NTR Jr with whom I have made two films already. There are no budget restrictions and no time frame for release date. I asked the director Ramesh to make this memorable film for all of us,” Ashwini Dutt said.
Meher Ramesh said the film would be shot in grand style in various places. “We are commencing the regular shoot from Feb 6th in Jaipur and then will move onto other places in Rajasthan. Then will be shooting in Egypt, Kairo, Europe and other places,” Meher said. He also added that the film showcase the real stamina of NTR and will live up to its powerful title – Shakti.

ISHQIYA HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:

After Classic Westerns and Curry Westerns, the likes of Vishal Bharadwaj seem to have designed a desi sub-genre where the bucolic Bihar backdrops are credibly carried off by the rural realms of Maharashtra’s Wai village. Call it ‘Wai-stern’ or whatever, but from Omkara to Ishqiya this rough-and-tough sub-genre has often been an antidote to candyfloss cinema, while still having a heart and in the right place.

Story and Movie analysis:

Seeking its spirit from the 1969 Hollywood classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and having a soul of its own, Ishqiya is the story of two rouges Khalujaan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi) who are evading their boss Mushtaq (Salman Shahid). Nowhere to go, they seek refuge in a friend’s house and instead meet his widow Krishna (Vidya Balan). Slowly and steadily both Babban and Khalujaan are attracted towards Krishna who uses her feminine charm to seduce them singly and slyly. Together the trio plan to kidnap an industrialist (Rajesh Sharma) for ransom but there’s more to the conspiracy theory. Ishqiya excels in narrating a saucy story and, unlike Kaminey , doesn’t gets complicated or convoluted in its storytelling. Director Abhishek Chaubey has a fresh, flirty and frivolous approach to filmmaking. The spellbinding screenplay written by Abhishek Chaubey, Vishal Bhardwaj and Sabrina Dhawan, despite being multidimensional, touches the subplots only peripherally and doesn’t delve into the past beyond the needful. So there are no elaborate background accounts for any of the three leads and you don’t wish to learn more about them either. Their past opens partially as the story progresses and only to the extent that can contribute to the central plot. Regardless of the rugged-and-rustic ‘ City of God ’ kinda setting, the flavour of the film is predominantly light-hearted, as instinctive comedy oozes out from almost every sequence. The director’s hold on humour is remarkable as he makes good use of some dingy desi dialogues and some exceptional expressions by the lead male duo to hilarious outcome. The chemistry and comic timing between Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi is absolutely flawless. The crude countryside cusswords and rustic Hindi-Urdu dialect add as much entertainment to the film as much as they add authenticity to the milieu. The chemistry between Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi is sensuously sauntered through sexual symbolism as well as physical intimacy. In contrast, the affinity between Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah is more delicately developed amidst the old world charm of classic songs of Hemant Kumar and S.D.Burman. Contrarily R.D.Burman’s sharp-and-seductive number ‘ Dhanno ki aankho mein ’ is employed to signify the lust in Arshad Warsi’s character. The good part of the narrative is that it doesn’t get pretentious with make-believe romance tracks. Rather from the very start, it comes clean in communicating that Vidya Balan is conning both the males. And despite that the plot doesn’t get predictable and holds you through an intriguing climax. The most impressive scenes from the film include the opening credits sequence and the confrontation scene between Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah towards the climax, which is unusually friendly and hostile at the same time. Just prior to that sequence, Naseeruddin emotes extraordinarily where he feels betrayed by love and cheated by friend. He plays a real young at heart in the song ‘ Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji ’. The bigamy plot of the businessman (Rajesh Sharma) is uproariously incorporated in the story. However the absurd and open ending could have been clearly avoided.

Artist and Other performance:

The film has been competently shot by Mohana Krishna and crisply edited by Namrata Rao. Music essentially has to be a highpoint in Vishal Bharadwaj’s films and with Gulzar he composes sheer magic. Gulzar’s poetic pen and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s poignant voice give us one of the most mesmerizing numbers in recent times – ‘ Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji’ . Payal Saluja gives a new meaning to sex-appeal making Vidya Balan look absolutely stunning and desirable in her village woman garb, draped in ordinary cotton saris. Ishqiya is highly performance oriented and each actor from the cast is superlative. To see Naseeruddin Shah deliver in a meaty role is a delight. Arshad Warsi is in his elements and this is his career-best performance. Undoubtedly this is amongst Vidya Balan’s best works too. Salman Shahid (last seen in Kabul Express ) is an interesting character and Adil Hussain makes for a strong negative lead.

Final View:

Ishqiya certainly is a film you will fall in love with. Enjoy this weekend with this great film.

AMITAB BACHAN 'S RANN MOVIE HINDI REVIEW:

To be honest (like the film demands), Rann is not a new story but the news battle setting saves it from getting run-of-the-mill. Rather than a story designed around the media world, Rann is more of the clichéd corrupt politician chronicle (that Bollywood has been narrating since ages) set on the backdrop of the broadcasting business. In fact the basic scenario of drama for this Ram Gopal Varma film comes close to his own Sarkar through the trio of a principled patriarch (Amitabh Bachchan), his debauched son (Sudeep) and the righteous and more deserving descendant (Riteish Deshmukh).

Story :
Vijay Malik (Amitabh Bachchan) heads the TV channel India24X7 which is known for its trustworthiness. Vijay Malik is a man of great ideals and he strictly follows them. His son Jay Malik (Sudeep) is a hot-blooded youngster who thinks that media is like any other business. Purab (Ritesh Deshmukh) is a disciple of Vijay Malik and he emulates the ethics and principles of Vijay Malik in his work. Mohan Pandey (Paresh Rawal) is the opposition leader who wants to become the PM at any cost. Pandey uses Jai to mudsling against the PM through Inda24X7 TV channel. The rest of the story is all about what happens when Vijay Malik comes to know about the truth.

Artist Performance:
Amitabh Bachchan comes up with his finest work as an idealistic media man. He adds value to the character he played. He is superb in the climax episode. Sundeep is excellent as the corrupted son. Ritesh Deshmukh is very good as disciple of Amitabh. Paresh Rawal is perfect as the bad politician. Mohnish Behl is apt. Gul Panag is adequate. Rajpal Yadav adds entertaining in this otherwise serious movie. Rajat Kapoor and Neetu Chandra are fine. Suchitra Krishna Murthy is extremely natural.

Technical departments:
Story - screenplay – direction: Story idea of the movie is good. It shows how media manipulates the minds of viewers and programs the viewers to do what media is intended to achieve. It is a challenge to attempt such a niche subject. One such movie of this genre I saw in the recent past was ‘Corporate’ (Mathur Bandarkar). Ram Gopal Varma comes up with nice screenplay and directs the movie well. He has taken some liberty and simplified the story in order to get his point across. Ram Gopal Varma also used the age-old formula of noble father (Amitabh) – corrupt son (Sudeep) – idealistic protégé (Ritesh) to create some familiar yet effective drama. I also like the way Ram Gopal Varma focuses on actors expressions instead of showing the content of tapes when they get hold of evidence tapes.
Other technical departments: Background music is nice. Cinematography is good and watch out for camera angles and camera movements in vital scenes of the movie. Editing is perfect. Dialogues are of top notch (especially the dialogue that says that the target of TV channels should be news and the medium is money – but TV channels target has become the money and the medium is news).

Rann Movie Analysis:
Rann is a niche movie made on the nexus of media and politicians. It shows us how media which supposed to guard truth is becoming a medium for politicians to doctor the minds of viewers/voters. The movie belongs to Amitab Bachchan in the first half and in the last 20 minutes. Most of the second half belongs to Ritesh. Only flaw in the movie is about how Amitabh blindly trusts his son. Rann might not be a film for everybody, but it is RGV’s best movie since Company. Watch Rann for the performances and the intensity.

Final View:
If u want see how media was behaving then go to rann movie now. Amitab will not dissapointed u !

Seetaramula Kalyanam Lankalo Movie Review

Movie Name : Seetaramula Kalyanam Lankalo

Seetaramula Kalyanam Lankalo Telugu Movie Review:
Story:
A rotten tale, the story is about Chandu (nitin) who is an intelligent student without any fear and believes in his brains. He chances upon Nandini (Hansika), his junior and falls in love with her. He keeps chasing her and after a bit of hide and seek, she finally gives in. Trouble arrives in the form of Veera Pratap Reddy (sunil) who is not only a rival to Nandini's factionist father Peddi Reddy (Suman) but also has his eyes on Nandini. One day, he attacks Peddi Reddy and takes Nandini to his town Allagadda. In comes Chandu to rescue his girl. How he does that forms the rest of the story.
Analysis:
The director has come up with a routine storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was weak. The dialogues were good in places, the script was stale and the screenplay was okay. Background score was apt but only one song 'Kiss Me' was great. Cinematography was above standard. Editing was crisp. Costumes were good, art department was nice. Fights were another highlight. Nitin is as usual and there is nothing extra he offers so no marks for him, Hansika looks gorgeous to the core and her oomph factor has increased a great deal. Brahmi was alright, Subbaraju was superb, Ali was apt, Jayaprakash Reddy was regular, Sunil Panda was loud, Chandramohan was usual, Suman was brief, M S was hilarious, the others didn't have much to offer.

Final View:
The film runs on a beaten track and it has nothing different to offer. While the first half goes about with the regular elements of love and comedy mixed with action, the second half goes about with a routine path of intelligence winning over muscle power and guns. The viewers have seen this several times and though the technical values were good, the content was weak. Since there is not much to get appealed about it, the movie will sink at the box office. Even Telanga Effect was not saved the film.

VEER(SALMAN KHAN) HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:

In a scene from the film, Salman Khan fractures his leg and limps almost for one full reel. But in real life, one can say Salman ne apne hi paav par kulhadi maar lee (hit the axe on his own leg). The ordinary story he pens doesn’t do justice to the immense intensity he adds to his performance. Salman is marred and let down by his own self.

story and Movie Analysis:
Veer opens in 1862 though it resorts to a 1980s kind of Bollywood treatment. Much over the usual Hollywood suspects – Braveheart, Gladiator or Troy it seeks references from epic dramas with a royal streak like Dharam Veer, Rajput and Raj Tilak from our very own Bollywood stock. The story comes close of Amitabh Bachchan’s Mard (1985) minus Manmohan Desai’s trademark lost-and-found formula which is substituted with too much of Bollywood song-and-dance drama.
Prithvi Singh (Mithun Chakravarthy) heads the Pindari community who were once betrayed by the Raja of Madhavgarh (Jackie Shroff). Prithvi’s son Veer (Salman Khan) continues to rebel against Madhavgarh and the British empire in India. Expectedly it’s love-at-first sight with the Raja’s daughter, Princess Yashodhara (Zarine Khan).
With younger brother Punya (Sohail Khan), Veer goes to London to get English gyaan that will help his clan. Predictably he stumbles upon Yashodhara at the university and the epic veers towards campus romance. Back in India, Yashodhara takes charge of her kingdom and is pitted against their enemy – the Pindaris lead by Veer. What follows is love and war though the treatment is more formulaic than fair.

Evidently designed as a project to glorify his heroism, Salman Khan is the single reason you sit through the film. Sadly Salman can’t solely substitute for the abundant ambiguities in the film. Writer Shaktimaan fails to develop Salman’s story into a compelling screenplay falling prey to outmoded clichés and the film merely ends up being a love story between two warring families with the age-old revenge angle thrown in for good measure.

With shot-takings derived from Jodhaa Akbar ’s battlefield sequences, the film starts on an interesting note. But the pace soon drops as an uninspiring love story takes precedence and too much of time is expended in song and dance. Though the narrative in first half doesn’t move beyond their redundant romance, the chemistry between the couple is palpably missing.
Half a dozen character artists are stuffed in the Pindari community, though none of them are established or contribute competently towards the war. Like many of those histrionic action sequences from the film where the hero makes a late entry to win instant applause, the film picks up pulse in the latter reels. The swayamvar sequence (derived from Dharam Veer ) and the climatic combat between father-son (inspired from Mard ) makes way for some dense dramatic moments. But Veer is excruciatingly long at a runtime that doesn’t justify its frail storytelling.

Technical Departments:
Action director Tinu Verma does a decent job in directing the stunt sequences but at several instances the rope tricks show off. Cinematographer Gopal Shah adds the requisite regal touch to the film, as his camera hovers vibrantly in action and battle sequences to capture accurate animated frames. Sanjay Dhabade’s art direction and Anna Singh’s costume designs somewhere fuses the period feel with a contemporary touch. Sajid Wajid’s musical score is pleasing to the ear and goes in sync with the period setting.

Artist Performance:
Salman Khan takes absolute precedence amongst everything else and roars through a powerful performance. The warrior character befits his stud and sturdy image and he doesn’t have to try too hard. Prominent in every frame of the film, he overshadows everyone else so much so that supplementary actor-brother Sohail Khan doesn’t even get one consolation solo scene. That thankfully moderates the trauma since all Sohail does is his brand buffoonery. Mithun Chakravarthy is the only one who stands on his own other than Salman Khan adding life to his character. Zarine Khan is a replica of Katrina Kaif and using the same dubbing artist only adds to the analogy. Lisa Lazarus is absolutely wasted in a two scene role. Jackie Shroff repeats his humdrum villainous act. Puru Rajkumar is unintentionally funny in his accented English.

Final View:
Veer doesn’t offer variety. But if you are a veracious Salman Khan fan, Veer is watchable.

Aamir Khan Profile

Famous for his outstanding performances and one-movie-at- a-time attitude, Amir Hussain Khan, lovingly called AK, is undoubtedly one of the best actors in the hindi film industry.
Born on the 14th of march 1965, Aamir is the son of producer Tahir Hussain and
Zeenat Hussain. He has 2 brothers, Faizal and Hyder ali Khan and two sisters ,Nikhat and Farhad.
Not many know that Aamir has done quite a few films as child artists such as Yaadon Ki Baraat, and Madhosh. But it was not until Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988),directed by his cousin Mansoor khan, that actually got this actor huge success.
Though aamir had the priviledge of being born in a noted family, his struggle in bollywood was no less than a new comer. He worked hard on his acting abilities and gradually went up to be a superstar of the 1990’s.
With films like Dil, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Rangeela and Raja Hindustani, there was just no lookin back, for Aamir. Films of every kind kept falling in his lap which gave him a golden opportunity to prove his versatility.
Initially Aamir did a lot of light comedy and romantic flicks. He totally succeeded in winning the hearts of every viewer and gave unforgettable performances in Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Andaz Apna Apna, Ghulam, Ishq and Mann. But very soon this image was overtaken by the serious characters he played in Sarfarosh (1999), Earth(!998), Fanaa (2006) and Rang De Basanti(2006)
Today Aamir does films that are aesthetically different, offbeat and critically acclaimed. He is one actor who has shown every character onscreen with equal zeal and reality. His character of Akaash in Dil Chahta Hai is of a happy-go-lucky young boy who takes life easily and stays away from girls. The audiences have adored Aamir in almost every role he has ever played.
In his career of 15 long years, Aamir is now all set to go behind the camera. His 1st production Lagaan, was released in 2001. This film redefined film making to the core with a relatively unconditional theme. It was a period film and was also nominated to the Oscars.
Aamir has various shades to his life, film and career. He keeps private and doesn’t believe in most of the film awards. He was different from the other stars right from the beginning and he has been able to retain this freshness even today!

kareena kapoor Profile

Belonging to the legendary family of filmstars, Kareena is the forth generation of Kapoors to have made a splash into films. With veteran actors like Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor as her forefathers, Kareena had to face high levels of expectations from the very beginning.
Lovingly called Bebo, she was born in Mumbai to famous acting couple Babita and Randhir Kapoor on 21st September, 1980. Her elder sister is the very well known actress Karisma Kapoor, who is now married. In her early childhood days, her parents splitted.
Kareena had always wanted to stay away from the glam and glitz of showbiz. She was inclined to pursue law but destiny had other plans for her. She got the priviledge of debuting opposite Abhishek Bachchan in J.P. Dutta’s “Refugee” in 2000. Though the film flopped, Kareena was noticed as Karisma’s younger sis.
Confidence never went loose with Kareena as she was now determined to prove that acting ran through her veins. She was focused that she didn’t want to begin with “masala movies” like her sister had. She wanted good scripts with her roles to be meaningful and substantial. Luckily for her, she got good offers and things finally fell in place.
Initially, many of her films like “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai”, “Yaadein” and “Asoka” and did not stir the box office. But Kareena had emerged as a very talented and beautiful actress. Kareena wanted her image to be of a good heroine and not just a star. So she was more careful in choosing her films.
Acting as a prostitute for the first time in “Chameli”, Kareena swept the audience and the critics off their feet. She was greatly appreciated for her acting and now people were taking this determined girl, seriously.
Films like Fida Aitraaz, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum and 36 China Town, took Kareena’s career to greater heights. she had now established herself as a successful and very talented actress.
This 5’5” blue eyed damsel is presently dating Pankaj KApoor’s son, Shahid Kapoor. Though she shies from the media, we know that she loves reading books, swimming and watching old movies. Kareena has a long road full of opportunities stretched out before her. Its for her to take full advantage of it and prove her true caliber.

katrina kaif Profile

She doesn’t believe in wearing minimum clothes or getting a sex symbol tag to her name. All she looks for is good work and greater success. The British Indian with loads of talent and beauty, is here to sweep you off your feet with her straightforward attitude. She is Katrina Kaif.
All of 23 and brimming with confidence, Katrina was born to an NRI father and a British mother in July 1984. She is one of the 8 siblings, all girls. Her father was originally from Kashmir. Having spent most of her childhood away from India, she never really had the chance to know the culture or the language of our country. Thus, initially she was called “A silent beauty” for she could not communicate well in Hindi.
Katrina was a model in London and as soon as she came to India for an ad campaign, she was flooded with offers. Professionally she started off as a model in India with Atul Kasbekar, renowned photographer. She did some important ad campaigns like LG, Lakme, Veet, Fevicol, L’oreal and Samsung.

Her expressive face and an hour glass figure were her assests. She snapped her 1st film offer from Kaizad Gustad for “Boom”. Though her inability to speak Hindi was a drawback, she was not demotivated. She was flooded with South Indian film offers. She did a few films in Telegu and became the highest paid debutant in the south by charging 70 lakhs per film.
Katrina has not done much films so to say but whatever little work she has done, there has been a progressive improvement in terms of her acting, accent and expressions. She can now speak Hindi too. Her films include Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and the very recent Namaste London.
It has been a small yet meaningful journey for Katrina. Her long time boyfriend Salman Khna dotes on her beauty and achievement. Not many know that she has an inborn talent for painting as well. With a superb figure, flawless complexion and an improved acting style, she is sure to go places.

Shahrukh married his only love Gauri Khan in 1991, but it was not easy for him to get her as Gauri’s parents were dead against their marriage abd Shahrukh had to go through hell to finally get Gauri’s hand for marriage. They have a son born to them in 1997 named Aryan.
Recently Shahrukh was in the limelight for hosting the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on Star Plus. His future projects include much awaited films like Khan, Hey Baby, Dhoom -3, Don – 2 etc.

Emraan Hashmi Profile

The chocolate boy of Bollywood, Emraan Hashmi was born on 24th March 1979  in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India into a Muslim family. His birth name was Emran Anwar Hashmi which he later changed to Farhan Hashmi, but again reverted back to his original name with an extra ‘a’ in Emraan based on numerology beliefs. Nicknamed Emmi, Emraan is a carismatic, talented, attractive, sweet and full of emotions which he can express it very well on screen.
Emraan’s Bollywood links comes from his uncle Mahesh Bhatt and cousin Pooja Bhatt. he started his career with his uncle’s film Footpath which unfortunately shared the same fate as its name and didn’t do well at all at the box office. His claim to fame was Murder released in 2004 where he starred opposite to the Bollywood’s bomb shell Mallika Sherawat. The duo rocked the silver screen with their sizzling kiss scenes which remained the hot topic of discussion and the centre of many controversies for a long time.
Emraan earned the nickname of ‘Serialkisser’ based on the fashionable word serial-killer after he kissed his way to fame with Tumsa Nahi Dekha (2004), Zeher (2005), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005) etc. All these movies were full of contentious scenes which had by then became an Emraan Hashmi trademark.
His reputation as an on screen hunk also raised a lot of questions on his acting talents. Critics were consistently commenting on his acting skills and he became a battering ram for them. Amisha Patel once said – “I don’t think Emraan can act”, but his fans and producers seem to think otherwise and he kept on signing movies after movies and his fans kept on liking them.
His recent releases include Dil Diya Hai, Good Boy Bad Boy and Train which made its premier at the IIFA awards. Emraan also has signed for lots of movies for future releases and is now looking forward to shedding his old image and doing some serious roles as he has now gotten bored of seeing himself kiss on screen.

Hrithik Roshan Profile

The Roshan family has been ruling the silver screen for quite some time, but perhaps no one has reached the heights of success as the green eyed boy Hrithik Roshan. Born to father Rakesh and mother Pinky Roshan on 10th January, 1974, Hrithik has the perfect combination of good looks, great body, awesome dance skills and acting talents. He is Bollywood’s Sylvester Stallone, Bratt Pitt and Michael Jackson rolled into one. He has two thumbs on his right hand grown together.
Hrithik made his debut as an actor in 2000, with the release of Kaho Na Pyar Hai. It has been referred to as one of the greatest debuts Bollywood has ever seen. Mass hysteria that followed the release of the film was called Hrithikmania and has been unprecedented. Hrithik received over 30000 marriage proposals from young girls all over the country on Valentines Day. Lots of young girls were reported fleeing their homes running to Mumbai to catch a glimpse of their heartthrob. The hysteria calmed down a bit when Hrithik was married to Sussain Khan on December 20, 2000 at Bangalore, India. The marriage broke many hearts.
Hrithik is also quite hard working and a perfectionist which comes across in his expressions and dance steps. He says he is not that great a dancer, but he practices his steps over and over again until he perfects them. There was a phase in his career where he went through a really bad patch and most of his films flopped badly, but, his hard work and perseverance kept the flame alive. Though his films didn’t do well, Hrithik himself seldom received a bad review on his performance. Films like ‘Fiza’, ‘Mission Kashmir’ and ‘Yaadein’ might not have been successful at the box office, but his acting talents were quite appreciated.
In 2001, Hrithik was stuck in a real big controversy when a rumor alleging him making disparaging remarks about Nepal and its people caused outrage in the country. Several newspapers carried the report, leading to protests both in India and Nepal. Later the Indian embassy and the actor himself clarified that he had made no such remarks.
Some of Hrithiks unforgettable performances include – Fiza, Lakshya, Koi… Mil Gaya, Dhoom 2, Krrish etc. his forthcoming films include Delhi 6, Dhoom 3, Jodha Akbar etc. all of them are big budget films with high audience expectations.

Ajay Devgan Profile

Ajay Devgan

The son of ace-master Veeru Devgan, Ajay was exposed to films from a very early age. He used to accompany his father to the sets and was very watchful from the beginning. But no one could ever imagine that Ajay would grow up to reach tremendous stardom.

Ajay, previously named Vishal, was born in Mumbai on April 2, 1967. His brother Anil Devgan is a film director in Bollywood. He began with the hit film “Phool Aur Kaante” opposite new comer Madhu Malini. Quite different from the others who join the industry without being noticed in the first few films, Ajay was not just noticed, he was appreciated by many, and awarded the best debutant for this film in 1991.
It marked a remarkable upward journey of a star-to-be. Soon after his first film, Ajay was loaded with offers. He did a no. of good films like Jigar(1992), Shaktiman(1993) Vijaypath(1994), Dilwale(1994) and Hulchul(1995). All the films portrayed Ajay as an action hero. But Ajay proved himself much more capable than just action and stunts.
Films like Ishq, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Dil Kya Kare and Major Saab, showed everyone that Ajay could portray comedy and romance with equal ability. It was when Ajay was working with actress Kajol in Ishq and Hulchul, that they realized they were in love with each other. Soon they tied the knot. They now have a daughter named, Nyasa.
There was no scarcity for work for an actor like Ajay. He was already a star. But a landmark film in his career was, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” opposite Aishwarya Rai. It was an emotional love triangle and a superhit film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
In more recent years, Ajay has done few yet quality films. Films like “The Legend Of Bhagat Singh”, Raincoat, Kaal and Apaharan all show different character portrayals of him. Ajay has definitely grown up in terms of his acting and as a person.
News is that Ajay will now go behind the camera and dawn the role of director. His forthcoming films are Sholay, London Dreams and his directional debut film U Me Aur Hum. This is one actor who believes that variety is the spice of life..

CHANCE PE DANCE MOVIE REVIEW

CHANCE PE DANCE HINDI MOVIE REVIEW:

Story:
Chance Pe Dance is stuff legendary Bollywood biographies are made of. Sameer Behl (Shahid Kapoor) comes to Bombay with Bollywood dreams, struggles through the day as a courier boy and keeps failing in auditions for advertisements. More stereotypes are stuffed in as he refuses to take help from his dad in Delhi (Parikshit Sahni almost repeating his Idiot act), is thrown out from his rented flat by the landlord (Kurush Deboo still unable to surpass his Parsi performance) and comes away with his calculative companion (Vikas Bhalla making his comeback). Soon Sameer is signed as the male lead in a film and friend Tina (Genelia D’Souza) is selected as the choreographer on the same project. The characterizations kinda remind of Naach ; Ram Gopal Varma’s film on dance, if you have heard of it by any chance. Both homeless and jobless now, Sameer sleeps in his car (yes, he could afford one after doing one lungi ad) and works as a dance teacher in a school. Regardless of the references it derives from Jack Black’s The School of Rock , the film fails to rock till the end credits roll. Subsequently Sameer loses his film and is disillusioned. Tina encourages him to participate in a television talent-hunt show, the winner of which will win the same role that Sameer was to play. In his screen-test, Sameer dedicates his monologue to his mother in the same mould with which most Miss India participants mouth their monotonous thanksgiving speech.

Chance pe Dance Movie Analysis:
Trying to write Chance Pe Dance movie review (Director: Ken Ghosh) starring Shahid Kapoor and Genelia is not an easy job. While walking out of the theater, I was trying to make out, what was that exactly? Is it like behind the scenes of a high drama reality show on TV? Have I watched something similar before? Am really confused!
The movie starts with the usual story about how, millions in our country aspire to become a star and land in Mumbai with dreams. So, motivated by his mother's thoughts, that he has got the face and talent to be an actor, egged on by a teacher who thought, he is no good in studies...so only choice is to become an actor and inspired by a girl's comment, that he is so cute, that he could be an actor, Sameer Behl also lands in Mumbai. Nothing quite happens in his life in 3 yrs and more, except that he owns a second hand car and yet trying his luck to get the big break in movies while doing some ads and other petty jobs like being a courier delivery boy! I couldn't have guessed it, except for one courier delivery scene and the scene where he gets fired. Yes, he is a real multi-tasker. Though, some of his actions betray his experience, like the one while shooting an ad, he still gets thrown out unceremoniously, objecting to the beahavior of the kid who happens to be the son of the ad-film director.
Genelia as Tina looks good and has got a real cute smile, that can make boys fall for her. But, she has a lot of work to do in the acting department. She is the choreographer, while she takes lessons from Sameer and marvels at her dancing skills. Usual routine of guy challenging girl to a dance and then showing, who is the real boss. Have I seen it before? You tell me...
In a film with a much repeated plot about strugglers in the film industry, a cliched storyline doesn't help its cause. Feel sad for Kurush Deboo, who plays a short stereotype Parsi landlord to Sameer with "added feature" of continuous itching habit. And obviously, Sameer owes money to his landlord, while doing out money to his friends for having coffee with girls. And before you know, he is thrown out of his apartment and in a new twist of events, without looking for any friend's place to stay, he decides to live in his car. And now, I understood, the promo activities of Shahid - Genelia's night out in the car. How innovative! :-)
Quite early, Sameer gets the lead role in a film to be directed by Mohnish Behl and Tina is the choreographer. And then, you know, that things have to get worse, before they get any better. So, blaming it on corporates (interesting, considering that the movie is made by one of the leading Corporates), Sameer is thrown out of the project, while the producers launch a national talent hunt called Star of India to find the hero of their next film. And as you guessed it, the hero doesn't want to participate, gets motivated by the heroine, falls in love in between as she shares her dream of the hero becoming a big star and then everything happens quite predictably.
In between, Parikshit Sahi as Sameer's father is shown in a cameo as unconvinced father, based in Delhi, who wants Sameer to give up on his dream. Once his saree shop is demolished by MCD, Sameer returns to Delhi to lend support, only to be prodded by his father to go back and pursue his dream who happens to see his son's tear-jerking performance on TV at the same time, as his son proposes to stay back and give up on his dreams.
I don't know, whats with kids in all big movies, as if putting a few kids, including a cute little one who doesn't talk (only video-no audio joke) will ensure Box-Office success. So, there is this bunch of kids in a school, who Sameer decides to coach for dancing to earn a few bucks...oh you thought, Sameer was the actor, and Tina was the choreographer, who also is the sister of one of the boys in the group. Never mind, actors basically are dancers as reinforced in the reality contest to choose lead hero, where in the auditions, you need to give a Oscar winning speech and in the finals, you need to just flaunt your six packs and dance.
The music of the movie is apt for the genre, but doesn't move you enough and while they decide to dance at any chance, including giving an "audition with permission" including a nightclub where the (only) leading Director is present, Scripting and Acting Department is neglected. Wish, the makers also thought about "Chance Pe Act" while making this movie. With a slow, not-quite-moving-anywhere first half and a very predictable, lets-come-to-the-climax-fast second half, the movie leaves a lot of things to chance. Unfortunately, the final output may not be enough for the producers to dance their way to the banks. As many who newcomers in the film industry, the movie may find the going quite difficult and struggle at the Box-office.

Final View:
Sadly, scripts are written for reality shows today but there is no real good scripting involved in feature films. So in times when dance talent-hunt shows on television promise more drama and entertainment, you find no good reason why to give this dance a chance. Watch it, if you want to revise your knowledge about all cliches of the film industry aspirant's life or, if you are a die-hard Shahid fan and I know, there are many.
